2009 Compliance Supplement Offers ARRA Information
Washington, May 26 – The Office of Management and Budget today released the 2009 OMB Circular A-133 Compliance Supplement, providing auditors with important guidance on how to review the performance of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding. The guidance states that the Recovery Act has “significant implications” for audits performed under OMB Circular A-133, and that “auditors should specifically ask auditees about and be alert to recipient and subrecipient expenditure of funds provided by the Recovery Act.”
ED Fast Tracks Stabilization Funds Amid Grim Budget News
Washington, July 2 — Just as a majority of states face a new fiscal year certain to bring more economic pain, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) yesterday sought to ease the pressure by fast-tracking more than $2.7 billion in additional federal stimulus money for government services, bringing to nearly $40 billion the amount of funds hitting state coffers.
Biden Touts Recovery Act Impact
Washington, Sept. 8 – Surveying the state of the economy 200 days after the enactment of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Vice President Joe Biden told an audience of economists and journalists the law has “played a significant role in changing the trajectory of the economy,” and averted a downturn that he believed could have rivaled the Great Depression of the 1930s.
