Will Recovery Act Requirements Soon Be the Norm for All Grants?
Washington, May 3 – Late last year, the former head of the federal Grants Policy Committee speculated that the increased reporting and oversight of grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act would eventually apply to all grants in about two years. Now, he expects these changes even sooner.
Tom Cooley, director of grants management with Deloitte & Touche LLP and former GPC Chairman, told attendees at the National Grants Management Association’s Annual Training Conference that Recovery Act grantees are becoming more familiar with what information they are expected to submit during their quarterly reports after three reporting cycles. The concern now is shifting from data quality to program accountability (i.e., are the funds being used to meet the mission of the program).
