Recovery Act Grantseekers Flood Grants.gov

Washington, April 8 Just as federal officials had earlier feared, Grants.gov has seen an extraordinary 115 percent increase in Web site hits between December 2008 and March 2009.

The site got approximately 800,000 hits in December and registered an unprecedented 1.8 million hits in March. In a three week period alone, between March 2 and March 22, Grants.gov officials report that the site processed 27,576 applications – the largest volume of submissions to be processed in any three week period since the creation of Grants.gov.

This huge surge in hits and applications processed can be attributed to the grant opportunities posted on the site funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Grants.gov has a separate page directing users specifically to Recovery Act opportunities that was accessed 94,227 times between March 6 and March 29.
