HUD Eases Some Buy American Restrictions
Washington, Nov. 2 – The Department of Housing and Urban Development is making it a little easier for recipients of Recovery Act Community Development Block Grant and Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 funding to obtain waivers from the initiative’s Buy American provisions.
Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, $1 billion was provided for the CDBG-R program, as well as $2 billion for the NSP2 program. To receive these funds, grantees had to agree to only use iron, steel and manufactured goods that had been produced in the U.S. This condition is commonly referred to as the “Buy American” provision.
