ETA Announces $220 Million for High-Growth and Emerging Industries Training
Washington, July 23 — Education and training organizations will be key partners in a new $220 million grant program to train unemployed individuals for jobs in health care and other high-growth or emerging industries.
Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will award up to 65 grants ranging from $2 million to $5 million each to public and private nonprofit groups. Given that the priority is to train people to work in the health care industry, $125 million will be reserved for projects related to nursing, allied health and health information technology, among others. DOL also set aside $25 million to assist communities hurt by the downturn in the automotive industry.
