DOE Gives Rebates to Consumers for ‘Efficient’ Purchases
Washington, July 16 – States looking for ways to encourage their residents to spend money on a new dishwasher or refrigerator could soon offer rebate checks as an incentive, thanks to a rebate program from the Department of Energy.
The DOE announced a $300 million rebate program that’s designed to encourage consumers to purchase ENERGY STAR® appliances while at the same time making their homes more energy efficient. Funding for the rebate program comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and will be awarded to states and territories through their respective energy offices.
