CDC Announces Availability of Competitive and Formula State Wellness Awards To Reduce Chronic Diseases
Washington, Oct. 7 – Shortly after unveiling a new, $373 million grant competition for state and local health agencies to fund community-based prevention and wellness programs, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has invited state and territorial agencies to apply for a separate pool of discretionary and formula funding also geared toward reducing chronic health problems through healthier lifestyles.
The program, known as the Communities Putting Prevention to Work — State and Territory Initiative, will award a total of $120 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding through three related program components. Eligible applicants include the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
